KAO DATA KLON 06

Slough, Berkshire

  • Client: KAO Data
  • Architect: Nicholas Webb Architects
  • Constrained site
  • Careful steelwork arrangement

Parmarbrook were appointed by KAO data to carry out structural design and fit out to one of their existing data centres. Works include 4 new technical data halls that consist of 2 No 4MW suites, 1 No 2.5MW and 1 No 1.25MW suite. All the new infrastructure will be independent of existing infrastructure. Our role was to develop structural design in line with existing building constraints to support major mechanical and electrical plant and plenums that are required to power and cool the technical suites. The use of an existing building and adapting an existing building is a sustainable approach. Working with particularly long spans to maximise the data hall space required the use of deep light-weight lattice girders to support the ceilings / plenum and duct work.
